How to Get Around Casablanca on a Tight Budget?

Discover Casablanca Without Breaking Your Budget

Despite being the economic hub and the largest city in Morocco, it is possible to enjoy visiting Casablanca on a very low budget if you know where to go and how to get around.

Public Transportation: The Tramway

The best way to get around Casablanca on a tight budget is by using the modern and clean “Tramway” network. A ticket costs around 8 Dirhams (less than $1) and covers most tourist attractions and major neighborhoods, saving you from expensive taxis.

Free or Cheap Tourist Attractions

  • Hassan II Mosque: You can stroll through the mosque’s outer courtyard and admire the beautiful architecture for free (although the interior tour requires a ticket).
  • Ain Diab Corniche: Walking along the Atlantic Ocean and sitting on the beach is completely free.
  • Habous Quarter: Wander through this neighborhood that blends French and Moroccan architecture, and enjoy window-shopping at the artisan stores without having to buy anything.

Street Food and Popular Cafes

To save money on meals, head to the markets and cafes located in the old medina where you can have mint tea and local foods at cheap prices, away from the tourist restaurants scattered along the Corniche.
