Best time to visit Morocco

Morocco has several climates in one country. The right month depends on whether your trip is about cities, desert, mountains or the coast.

Best overall: spring and autumnSummer: head for the coastWinter: sunny days, cold nights

Season by season

March to May

Spring

Warm days, green valleys and almond blossom in the Atlas. Comfortable almost everywhere, including the desert. Easter brings more visitors.

June to August

Summer

Marrakech, Fes and the Sahara regularly pass 40°C. The Atlantic coast stays fresh and lively, so this is the season for Essaouira, Taghazout and Tangier.

September to November

Autumn

The heat fades, nights are clear and the light is soft. One of the best times for the desert, the medinas and mountain walks.

December to February

Winter

Sunny, mild days in Marrakech, snow on the high Atlas peaks and nights near freezing in the desert. Pack warm layers.

Weather by region

The same week can feel very different depending on where you are.
